WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS AT Church's Martial Arts
We are proud to offer the San Diego community workshops on important topics such as self-defense, anti-bullying, and more.
Creative and ATA-Xtreme Forms and Weapons are "free style" performances mixing traditional and contemporary martial arts techniques.
Creative is based upon traditional Songahm techniques, but may be in any combination, and may be basic or advanced techniques.
Xtreme permits the incorporation of gymnastic movements and martial arts "tricks" into routines.
Though sparring is considered a form of self defense, it is also very important for other reasons.
It helps display proficiency in techniques, and for this reason at the Camo Belt level and beyond sparring is evaluated for purposes of rank advancement.
Students practice distance and timing and move onto responding to spontaneous techniques from a sparring partner, all while displaying their abilities in a safe, controlled competitive environment while still showing respect to their opponent.
In a real-world self-defense situation, you may not be able fight easily against a much larger opponent - but you might have the ability to quickly pick up a stick, cane, umbrella or something similar.
Combat weapon training is a great equalizer for those who aren’t great at kicking or power or even a lack of height.
ATA designed the heavily padded bahng mahng ee specifically so students of all ages could train safely in stick fighting.
No other martial arts organization has stick fighting as a regular part of its training, with a developed curriculum specifically for teaching combat with a weapon.
Our Leadership program is a fun and exciting introduction to martial arts. If you are new to martial arts, this is a great place to start!
• The leadership program includes up to 3 classes per week, including forms, sparring, basic weapon training, fitness and more (including Krav Maga and MMA).
• Our Elite program builds upon our Leadership program and is geared for the serious martial artist, whether it be for competition purposes or for fitness reasons.
• The benefit of the Elite program is the ability to choose your own schedule as you can attend both studios and all level appropriate classes.
Weapons Training is an exciting part of the ATA Taekwondo Training curriculum.
Comprised of traditional and modern disciplines, Protech Weapons Systems continues to develop new training programs for ATA students. Ssahng Jeol Bong (“Chucks”) and Bahng Mahng Ee (“Stick”) are part of a student's journey to Black Belt.
Additional weapon training is offered through our Elite program for Sword, Sam Dam Bong (“Tri-Staff”), Jahng Bong (“Staff”), and Jee Pahng Ee (“Cane”).
The ATA and Karate for Kids have joined with AmberAlert to offer the ATA Kidz ‘N Power Child Safety Seminar, a worldwide initiative designed to help minimize the risk of child abduction by teaching children how to avoid being a victim; how to be confident and stay safe through a fun and non-fearful environment.
The program will include activities such as simple breakaway self-defense instruction, role-playing with possible stranger dangers, and methods to deal with bullies. Church’s ATA Martial Arts offers these seminars to the community FREE OF CHARGE.
Children of all ages, gender, race, and physical abilities are vulnerable to child abduction. "Through age-appropriate instruction, and awareness of warning signs, collectively ATA schools around the world hope to have a significant impact on reducing the risk of child abduction and victimization", says Sixth Degree Black Belt, Trish Church.
If you are interested in helping us reduce these disturbing statistics and keeping our children safe, please contact one of our studios, or send an email. We can arrange for one of our instructors to meet with any civic group or we can organize a special seminar for your group at one of our studios.
These 30 minutes classed are aimed at improving your cardio more than your technique. We have designed this class to help our students get fit and stay fit. This class combines strength training and cardio exercises. The principles of Taekwondo techniques are based on the design of your body. For power you develop the larger, powerful muscles of the torso. The speed of the techniques comes from the fast, agile muscles of the arms and legs.
As you progress in Taekwondo, you will learn to coordinate this speed and power.
We all train together like a team and although we take our training seriously, we make sure that you have a ton of fun while you get in the best shape of your life.
